Atheists And Theists Square Off: In God We Trust
Over at examiner.com there is an article where I found this comment,
” ‘In God We Trust’ excludes and treats as outsiders the millions of adult Americans, including as many as 15% of all adults, who are not religious, i.e., atheists, agnostics, skeptics and freethinkers, none of whom possesses a belief in a god; the mandated language diminishes nonbelievers by making god-belief synonymous with citizenship.”
Question for the Atheist: If “In God We Trust” was eliminated from the United States of America’s language wouldn’t 85% of adults who do believe in God be neglected and feel as if they were second class citizens?
Question for the Theists: Does it make a difference whether or not the USA includes “In God We Trust” on things such as dollar bills or saying “under God” in our pledge?
UPDATE: I changed Christian to Theists in the title but didn’t do it in the Permalink because I have already submitted it to several places.

America is the melting pot, meaning we need to try to include everyone in everything. The word God on the money could be replaced with many other things. Instead of arguing over which one gets to be the “first class citizen”, why not come together and decide on something that makes EVERYONE a “first class citizen”?

No.
If “There is no god” was put up, then you would have a point.
A blank wall doesn’t promote anything. Which is the position the government should have in matters of religion.
The fact is that religion or Christianity should not be favored or given a leg up by the government. If it is true let it debate in the marketplace of ideas.
“Does it make a difference whether or not the USA includes “In God We Trust” on things such as dollar bills or saying “under God” in our pledge?”
In God We Trust is senseless lip service and should be eliminated. Keep the government out of my religion! If we really entrusted our wealth with God, our money certainly would be spent differently. What is it the average church goer donates, 2.3% or something? It’s appauling, not to mention the fact that many of those “non-attending” 80-90% of believers don’t donate a cent. Don’t denegrate my God by referencing God on our money.
I personally have no problem with “In God We Trust” on our currency. However, if our money said, “In Jesus We Trust” or “In Allah We Trust” or anything more specific I would have a HUGE problem.
